Punta Las Putas to Isla Espiritu Santo, April 22nd 2009.

After a day of restocking in La Paz we drove to Tecolate and left the truck behind a restaurant at the beach at Punta Las Putas. Four of us (Kate DesLauriers stayed at the condo) paddled the four mile crossing to Isla Espritu Santo. Tecolate had strong wind from the southeast but this died down some as we crossed A freighter with trucks strapped down on the deck crossed in front of us an turned towards La Paz.

Once across we followed the beautiful sandstone bluffs of Isla Espiritu Santo, ducking into the long west facing coves. Most of these had very shallow water over a sandy bottom. For a lunch stop we had to land at an old fish camp at a point to get close to shore in deep water.

It was a hot day and we were lazy after lunch and did not travel very far. We stopped at an official campsite that had a shady cave for the afternoon sun and a big rock to create a shadow in the evening. Here we set up camp for the night.
